Trouble happens every time the Brooklyn-based crew of Drop The Lime, Math Head, Star Eyes and The Captain get together to throw one of their legendary, quasi-illegal parties.

Bass is everything, whether the backbone of releases on their T&B label or the driving force of their ballistic, sweat-inducing DJ sets – all timeless rhythms, unforgettable melodies, and surprise after speaker-quaking surprise.

If you’ve been missing the raw energy that made electronic music so exciting in the first place, this is where it’s been hiding.

Holidays in the Sun

I have realized that I am long overdue for your typical sunny beach vacation, but I say F that because there is much time (and many more years before I become old and lazy) to just lay on a beach, soaking in the sun's cancerous UV rays.

I do incredibly appreciate mother nature for being so kind to me thus far. The last week has consisted of beer, hours of boating in Invermere, Aurora's Sunday night banger, only one 'late' night, a hike up Sulphur mountain, ice cream and good pizza, Lake Louise, Mt. Norquay and mountain goats. I will get to do my last bit of sightseeing today here in Banff via horseback and complete the rest of the day with a little bit of brunch and spa action.

Flight to Vancouver at 13:00 tomorrow then off to Shambhala. Hope to see YOU there!

The Wild, Wild West ...of Canada - Day 2

My first day was spent in Calgary. Did a little shopping and enjoyed some Chinese food but was deathly jet lagged due to a very screwed up sleep schedule, therefore let us just proceed to day two:

The air is crisp in the morning here in Banff and even more so when the sun finally sets (that being at 23:00MST). My fingers are fine now, but the veins in my hands are just gaining back the flow of blood. I have just completed my first nature walk along the Bow Trail. The photos I have taken do not do any justice nor can words even explain the wondrous beauty that is The Canadian Rockies. I take no regret in staying fairly sober my first night on the town this evening prior, as I would not have been able to enjoy this day as much as I already have.
Here, all seem friendly. The nights in 'town' are full of intoxicated young hooligans roaming the streets, this including: the locals, the French, and all those who work in town and are from everywhere BUT.
So much more to see and explore, still so many friends to make, but most importantly still so many memories to create.

Interesting things about the Banff National Park (in which the Fairmont residences are located, and where I am situated) can be read here and information about the Canadian Rockies can be found here.

accessorize

i've always been a suck for accessories. expensive, vintage, moderately priced (but mostly vintage) --- I LOVE THEM ALL! but i've always been the sucky one at choosing a handbag ...AND the sac à main is the ultimate accessory that can totally make or break one's ensemble....

Chloé has done me oh-so-right for the Fall season

Leather shoulder bag

Python shoulder bag
If I had about $7K* to drop, these would be mine in a milli-milli-second
*not really sure how much these go for

Lacroix made thee ideal bootie

The night is yours in these...

And for the ultimate surprise. If you know me I'm never one to wear "pretty" things. BUT Valentino can de-flower my mind anyday...

TORONTO

SEK ONE in NOW Mag

WHERE Catch him playing Friday (July 4) at LeVack Block (88 Ossington) as part of Acid City, opening up for Scott Cooper. Then, July 11, he plays the Nut Buster’s Ball at Smiling Buddha (961 College).

WHAT “Bass-heavy subwoofer workout beats. I pull a lot of influence from jackin’ house, dubstep, Detroit electro-techno, old jungle and UK garage. When I DJ, it usually sounds like elements of all those genres get dismantled, then reassembled into a new-school rolling low-end style.”

WHY “I wanted to become a DJ after seeing DJ Q’s battle scene in the movie Juice. Since then, everyone from Green Velvet, Drop the Lime, Ed Rush and Skream to King Turbo has inspired me to keep at it.”

TOP TRACKS

Rusko Cockney Thug (Buraka Som Sistema remix)
Machines Don’t Care Beat Bang
Andy George and Scott Cooper The Piano Man
Clark Able Lemon Head (Nic Sarno remix)

Five Decades of Loveliness

"1963 and it all kicks off....

This season, Ben Sherman asked British Designers PPQ, notorious for beautiful dresses, to create a range to illustrate & revive musical style. The collection consists of 5 dresses, one for each era, which instantly gives the 'decade' an identity.

LIMITED EDITION"

consumerism at its finest

i am a slave to this lifestyle of modern consumption, as if my 'blog' does not already prove my distastful acts - there is no doubt that hedonism is found through love (of materialistic objects) as well as in the simplistic ways of life
( but i say, why not let the two be concurrent? )

the sunnies have been ordered and a new mobile to choose from is hopefully on it's way!
my very outdated and slowly dying RZR is in need of a proper replacement.

Miss Sixty

entire collection found HERE

I've always had a soft spot for luscious lamb leather, oversized darker than thou shades and the unholiest of holy four inch heels. Though this may seem like the attire of a dominatrix, I prefer to plainly call it 'bad ass' - a title I'd like to refer to my lifestyle as... only on weekends, of course. This badass style of mine thankfully adorns the creations of those lovely designers at Miss Sixty.

Branding in the 21st century is more important than ever. Within each household name holds a history behind it. Miss Sixty is a line of clothing that is part of the Sixty Group brand created in 1990 and then launched in 1991 (that including the ubiquitous Sixty, Energie, Killah, Murphy&NYE, Refrigiwear, Richlu, Kblost, Bandits du Monde and Baracuta - http://www.sixty.net) - synonymous for it's youthfulness and 'described as having a strong identity and versatile personality that distinguishes it from other clothing lines'.

Those young minded individuals who choose to portray the [Miss Sixty] image exude an off-beat, yet exciting aura to them - from their famous denim to recent runway collections, the people at Miss Sixty have been doing just that to cater to their clientele. And their clientele (with all fingers pointing to me) is one happy puppy.

Models who have represented the brand are Irina Lazareanu and Jessica Stam. Avid followers, include the most-recent frontrow-ers: Anne Hathaway, Chloë Sevigny, Ashley Olsen and Milla Jovovich.

My badassness continues with my most recent purchase of the Zonaida tote. An unexpected visit to the Sherway Gardens location led me to this purchase, as well as its exchange for the high waisted, medium washed denim, adorningly named "Mila" from Spring 2008 collection. No matter what cut you choose: high waisted, straight, regular fit or their sinful second skins, quality and a tickettotheoneyouwantinyourpants is what you're truly paying for.

The new collections can be found on the website www.misssixty.com

Here are my new pantalons, which if you're lucky, just might be found on your bedroom floor

ACID CITY - THEY ARE HERE TO SAVE YOU

June 19-25
BY Denise Benson June 18, 2008 16:06

SEK ONE @ ACID CITY

With DJs Fistfight, Alias. Fri, June 20. Toika, 471 Richmond W. $6.
“Anything I do is based solely around a big fat bassline,” declares local DJ and promoter Brandon Sek (a.k.a. Sek One), the man behind the Curb Crawlers and Subtrac events. Having been DJing for the past 14 years, Sek has loved and played all from Chicago house and Detroit techno to drum ‘n’ bass, UK garage, dubstep and “dark Detroit drum machine electro.” Acid City finds him partnered with similarly adventurous DJ/producer Fistfight, of Nacho Lovers fame. Expect the two of them to come heavy with sounds both classic and futuristic. Check Sek’s popular blog at www.thecurbcrawlers.com/blog for a taste.

A thought on Hedonism, originating from John Stuart Mill stated, "the more elaborate beings tend to spend more thought on other matters and hence lessen the time for simple pleasure."

Vice said it right

Picked up The Fashion Issue yesterday. Looks bomb diggy - skimming through it and noticing all the 'hipters' practically look the same everywhere you go in the world ...weird (unless it is the fault of the stylists?). The only differences I can spot are skin colour and the ratio of cool to nerd factor.

edit * I'll stop my hasty generalizations and apologize to the crafty writers at Vice. After looking at the pictures and reading the write-ups the 'people' in various metropolis' around the world, I do find their iconic-influenced styles are quite eclectic. I do fancy those [boys] from Amsterdam and Antwerp...
If it's necessary I'll update this completely useless post later tonight.

Anyway, I just wanted to quote whoever wrote the Montreal '08 Trend Report:

"Thift stores in Montreal are a fucking gold mine. The only problem is that you have to sift through tons of crap and get your hands covered with old-people particles before you find the good stuff. Luckily no one from Montreal between the ages of 18 and 28 has a real job, so they have tons of time to waste finding vintage mink coats, veiled hats, granny cardigans, high-waisted pants, and old leather boots. A whole outfit like this probably costs less than a sandwich does in New York."

Truth. I hate using internet lingo but I must say, EVA B, FTW!
