more ranting

i apologize for my incessant bitching but i'm sure you all can relate. so [if you] please, continue to read on...

i adore clothing companies who pay attention to meticulous detail [even] during the reproduction of their final products. although these items i refer to may not be as inflated in price when compared to "designer" items, i still expect to receive the same service as if they were, while i shop, and say, need a size taken from the back or given to me while i'm in the change room [and i don't give a shit if it's boxing day or not]. i think this should be automatically included in my bang for my buck. you figure when spending a few hundred dollars in a store you'd receive such 'bang' but according to the lousy handling received yesterday, my buck was not worth shit.

coming from a previous background in retail, let me make it clear to you all: serve your clients properly ...especially those who do not pester you tediously - but simply, just need a little help. remember, you are not the one shopping, you are the one serving. and in particular, do not act like a bitch when i'm cashing out. i am *this* close to throwing my purse in your ugly, disgruntled face.

exterior, superior

My admiration for designers continues to soar as their imaginations and appropriations move forward with the times, always mixing the old with the new. It's lovely to view fourties glam or an old mans suited style fitted to a woman, usually of unrealistic proportions. Such idealism of models [obviously] intrigues me; I've grown accustom to the idea of playing daily "dress-up" when clothing myself in the morning or before I head out... I find it just makes life a little more interesting.

Cummerbunds are fun.

ps Lily Allen is dating Ed Simons, the dude from The Chemical Brothers.

and that is all.

the Oxford

[ leather oxford style shoes with rubber sole, made by Joseph Box Co. in London, 1886 c/o http://flickr.com/photos/hkoslov ]

Its claim to fame was influenced by the prissy businessman that knew how to dress.
"To wear a patent leather or a brown suede?", he might have asked.

Here I present a purchase made in Late Winter/Early Spring 2007! A good look, as I apparently forsaw the coming of the "Oxford" for Fall.

Here, you might ask what an "oxford" exactly is. It can loosely be defined as:
"An Oxford shoe is a style of leather shoe with enclosed lacing. Oxford shoes are traditionally constructed of heavy leather and were historically rather plain. The shoes originally appeared in Scotland and Ireland, where they are occasionally called Balmorals. The design of the shoe is often plain, but may include some small ornamentation or perforations. The Balmoral, or true Oxford, has closed lacing, while the "Blucher" or "Derby" shoe (often referred to as a variety of Oxford) features open lacing.

Contemporary Oxford shoes may be constructed in many different styles bearing little resemblance to historical Oxford shoes. Contemporary Oxfords may be constructed of tanned leather, suede leather, or even synthetic materials. Most designs could be classified as dress shoes or dress casual. Most modern Oxfords have a piece of leather stitched over the toe section and are sometimes called cap-toe Oxfords or Oxford caps."

My infatuation with this style of shoe (both old and new) is going a tad haywire as flats, booties and peep toes continue to reappear anywhere and everywhere. See below for my wishlist...

But for now this girl can only dream.

pet peeve numero uno

not to sound like your neighbourly cliche using her blog to vent her emotions but honestly, why do BAD things happen to good people? with the slight mishap that occurred on Friday night (my phone being stolen) it leads me to ponder as to why the fuck i would deserve that ...along with other little things (e.g. my car being broken into, twice, last year). i am good to my friends, i do not lie, i don't do anything bad (at least nothing that hurts others), nor do i do anything that involves bad karma toward myself ...but then this happens!

this upsets me, dearly.

sorry for the lame post

Finally!

A sign of relief can now be breathed as Jessica Alba is confirmed pregnant (what, she's like 40 now?) and the new America's Next Top Model has been chosen!

Also, after 11 A.M. tomorrow, I will have officially survived first semester back in the "University" life. And all will be good again!

Awaiting Friday's Celebratarding patiently... aghgahhagh

obrigado para a música

listen while you read
Gregzinho - Seleção do Gringo

Came across a few articles and videos about this partially new (to us Westerners) genre of music entitled Baile (Bai-lee) Funk - the born relative to Funk Carioca with relations to Kuduro. One thing that boggles my mind is how avid music lovers, that including myself, continue to get down with lyrics they cannot understand (think Yelle or even Elephant Man for that matter).

Since I first heard of the aforementioned styles, there was something that [insanely] intrigued me. Samples from tunes that were made before I was born and lyrics that meant nothing but to basically loose your shit on the dance floor. This genre continues to re-sample all the same beats, but almost every time a new track comes out, the listeners jump on it like North Americans jump on Kanye's dick for another hit. Fortunately, their non evolving scene still consists of producers and lyricists that maintain the same thought and fondness for Baile.

Everything has become a melange - language and style-wise. Think Baile funk / Baltimore / Kuduro / Electrorave / Nu Rave / Ghetto tech / Booty Bass / Dubstep / Grime / Miami Bass / Dancehall / Crunk / Hyphy / Mash-up / WHATEVERTHEFUCKYOUWANACALLIT for a wider perspective on what I'm trying to get at.

Linguistics is an interest of mine and shit like Baile is what keeps me interested in music. Without the exposure to it at these so-called "hipster" parties I would've known jack about it, and if there is a high energy danceparty at night, you know I'm always down. The language barrier between cultures seems now to be non-existent. Since Baile has come about, a new hype for speaking Brazilian has come along too.. . check out the article here. Maybe Soulja Boy will learn Portuguese and "Superman" can be renamed "homem formidável" for the sake of our children.

After blogging about a style of music that's all about 'party and bullshit', I think I've spoken way too much shit at this point... but whatever! HOPE YOU'RE ENJOYING THE MIX

irina, pourquoi?

il y a beaucoup de raisons pourquoi c'est elle que j'adore. ce n'est pas juste son style, mais sa personalité et son mode de pensée qui est très différent que la reste. regarder ici pour des explanations...

UPSET

How the hell does it take two months to receive a goddamn desk? With a name like "Yale" you figure its smart ass would've found its way to my bedroom by now, without getting lost in Montreal.

I'm also not feeling the $10 small King size packs of Parliaments I'm buying in Ontario... tell me why it costs 60% less, a four hour drive away? (Cupcakes in priority mail shipped to someone in the States who will mail me a few cartons!)

BUT on the UPside this is what Friday is going to resemble
